Caravan Repairs
Caravans are built to be light to tow, because of this they can be easily damaged.
Caravans are large cumbersome “homes on wheels” that can easily be damaged, they are built lightly to make them easier to tow. It is inevitable that at some point your caravan will hit something and come off second best.
Most modern caravans and motor homes have a fibreglass cowl at the front and rear of the van. Minor damage can be touched up easily but ignoring fibreglass damage can lead to much bigger problems down the track.
Cracks in the fibreglass let water into the laminate and, over a period of time, cause the fibreglass to soften. These cracks can also let water into other parts of the van and, if left untreated, can cause much more catastrophic damage to the van’s structure.
If you have hit something in your van, no matter how innocuous, drop by so we can have a look. An inspection won’t cost you anything but will provide you with peace of mind.
There more than 150 Recreational Vehicles (RV) brands in Australia, the range of RV construction types also vay widely from the traditional ‘stick and tin’ which is Meranti timber frame and aluminium cladding to fully composite body structures. The fully composite method is what we see on many of the high-end motorhomes. If we use the Jayco Silverline as an example the sandwich construction walls and roof consist of an aluminium frame and high-density polystyrene insulation that is layered over with plywood inner and outer sections and an outer fibreglass skin all vacuum bonded together.
The fibreglass section is what is usually damaged first when any external contact is made with the van. This is where our fibreglass expertise comes in, we are able to repair minor to major (non structural) damage to your caravan to make it look like new again.
