Motorhome Repairs

We see a lot of damaged motorhomes where the driver has underestimated the height of the vehicle.

Most motor homes have an overcab that protrudes above the driver and passenger cabin. This area is a very popular spot to sustain damage. The overcab can be made from fibreglass or a PVC plastics/mix. It’s important when this area is damaged to get it repaired as soon as possible, even minor damage can be touched up easily but ignoring fibreglass damage can lead to much bigger problems down the track.

Cracks in the fibreglass let water into the laminate and, over a period of time, cause the fibreglass to soften. These cracks can also let water into other parts of the motorhome and, if left untreated, can cause much more catastrophic damage to the motorhome’s structure.

If you have hit something in your motorhome, no matter how innocuous, drop by so we can have a look. An inspection won’t cost you anything but will provide you with peace of mind.

There more than 150 Recreational Vehicles (RV) brands in Australia, the range of RV construction types also vay widely from the traditional ‘stick and tin’ which is Meranti timber frame and aluminium cladding to fully composite body structures. The fully composite method is what we see on many of the high-end motorhomes. If we use Jayco’s Conquest as an example, the Conquest walls are designed to provide great thermal and acoustic insulation. Combining vacuum-bonded quad-layer walls and lightweight aluminium frame, This makes the walls light and strong. The outer layer while stated by Jayco to be made by ‘made of hail and dent resistant fibreglass’. If it takes a hard enough hit it will crack or worse.

The fibreglass section is what is usually damaged first when any external contact is made with the van. This is where our fibreglass expertise comes in, we are able to repair minor to major (non structural) damage to your motorhome.
