Did you know that most fibreglass boats are gelcoat and not 2 pac paint like a car? As a result, most car polishes and compounds will provide you with a nice ‘shine’ but will be short-lived and wash off very quickly.

Gelcoat is the most common surface coating on trailer boats. It is super durable and designed to last the lifetime of a vessel. Unlike paint it doesn’t chip or dent easily however it can be chip and scratch repaired. Our highly skilled qualified boat builders can even colour match and blend making for a first class finish.

Gelcoat polishing is very different. You are effectively resurfacing the gelcoat, removing the impurities and rough dull surface with a heavy cutting compound and then bringing back the shine with finer compounds. Once we’re done, we apply a coat of UV liquid wax to give your boat a lasting shine and UV resistance.

We use only the best Farecla Profile gelcoat products and in order to produce an amazing finish we have lifting equipment on site that will allow us to lift boats up to 4.5t off trailers. If we need to lift more, we can arrange a portable crane. We also have a large portfolio of Brownell boat stands that, in a set of three, will support over 27t. These stands allow us to work under your boat while it’s off the trailer. This way we can provide a smooth consistent gelcoat finish.

Polishing a boat is not like polishing a car. Automotive products use silicones and other glazing products that can disguise the dull gelcoat surface but wash off or are absorbed very quickly after they are applied. Gelcoat polishing is far more time-consuming, the correct pad and correct compounds are critical to getting a result that will last. Come and see us.
